CRISTINA MOLTENI

Born in Milan, she completed her musical studies at the “G. Nicolini” Conservatory in Piacenza, graduating at the age of 19 under the guidance of Maestro Vincenzo Balzani. A brilliant pianist with a fluid technique, she possesses a broad and diverse repertoire, which she performs with remarkable musical maturity.  

Since 1985, she has given numerous recitals for various prestigious concert institutions, such as “I Pomeriggi Musicali,” the “Società dei Concerti,” “ISU Bocconi,” and “Serate Musicali,” earning acclaim from both audiences and critics. She has achieved recognition in several national and international piano competitions.  

Since 1990, she has also collaborated as a soloist with the Romanian Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Ovidiu Balan, performing with them in Italy and abroad. In addition to her solo career, since 1992 she has formed a piano-violin duo with her brother Giorgio, performing in Italy and internationally. Her artistic vitality drives her to remain active in various other chamber music ensembles.  

She teaches principal piano at the Nuova Scuola di Musica in Cantù and conducts advanced and pedagogical piano courses. Since 1995, she has collaborated with the artistic director and regularly serves as a jury member, representing the Nuova Scuola di Musica, which organizes the competition and where she serves as director. In 2015, by unanimous decision of the board, she assumed the presidency of the competition.  

In 2018, she conceived and organized the performance of Beethoven’s 9 Symphonies for two pianos, eight hands, in transcriptions by Theodor Kirchner from the second half of the 19th century. This complex undertaking involved 23 pianists in the project. The 9 Beethoven Symphonies were performed for the first time in Italy in this arrangement.
