Born in Valcea in Romania in 1956, he attended “High School of Music” in Brașov with Prof. Gheorghe Ciavici and the Bucharest Conservatory in 1982 with Prof. Gheorghe Cuciureanu. Member of the “Syrinx” trio and of the “Mihail Jora” Bacau philharmonic since 1982 and the “Fagotissimo” quartet since 1998. He has also been part of the “Giocoso” trio since 1998 with an activity of over 300 concerts. Artistic director of the “Mihail Jora” philharmonic from 1998 and general director from 2007. With the Syrinx trio, he has participated in several competitions and is the only Romanian wind group that has won awards in international competitions. 1983 – First prize at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod (Great Britain), 1984 – Finalist in the international competition “Ancona Prize” (Italy); 1985 – First prize in the Stresa international competition (Italy); 1985 – Second prize in the international competition “Ancona Prize” (Italy); 1987 – Third prize in the international Martigny competition (Switzerland); 1988 – First prize at the Capri international competition (Italy); 1989 – Special jury prize, Tokyo international competition. 1986 – The music criticism award in Romania. He attended master classes in Italy from 1982 to 1985 with Antonio Bachelli and Arturo Sacchetti and in Germany-Darmstadt in 1986 with Pierre Yves Artaud. He has played with the Syrinx trio over 2000 concerts in Italy, France, Gibraltar, Macedonia, Spain, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Greece, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Norway, Cehia, Slovakia, ex U.R.S.S. etc. and registered for BBC, Romanian Radiotelevision, Edipan- Rome, V.D. Gallo- Switzerland, Electrecord-Bucharest, 1986 – Founder of the first international contemporary music festival in Romania “The weeks of contemporary music” where over 300 new auditions were played. Artistic director of international seminars for directors since 2005 where more than 160 young directors from 40 countries and five continents took part. In the period 1986-2017 he organized over 3000 concerts on artistic tours in Korea, China, Japan, Italy, Greece, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Malta, Portugal, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Holland, Macedonia, for the orchestras of Bucuresti, Arad, Cluj, Iasi, Ploiesti, Oradea, Satu- Mare, Rm.Valcea, Constanta, Botosani, Chisinau, Radio Orchestra, Works by Bucuresti, Timisoara, Craiova. In recent years under his organization the Bacau Philharmonic “Mihail Jora” has played on the most important scenes in the world, such as: Gewandhaus-Leipzig, Konzerthaus-Berlin, Gasteig- Munchen, Sala Verdi, Milan, Tonhalle-Zurich, Art Center- Shanghai, Beijing Hall.
He has participated as President and jury member in the international competitions San Bartolomeo, Valtidone, Lamporecchio, Taurisano-Italy, Rome, Voghera, Cantu, Barletta, Foggia, Grottamare,Tagliolo Monferrato, Peritoli, Italy, Gibraltar, Iasi.
